STUDENT BELIEVES ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Kim Rosato, a student at the Brick location of the Ocean County Vocational Technical School, is showing she can reach out and help others.
BRICK - Can one person really make a difference? Kim Rosato, a student in the Fashion Merchandising/Design program at Ocean County Vocational Technical School (OCVTS) in Brick, believes she can. The Jackson resident is currently working on a community service project entitled, "One Person can make a Difference."

Kim has knitted over 100 scarves since last summer and is selling them to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Each scarf comes in a gift bag which Kim also designed and made. Kim chose this service project as part of her involvement with the OCVTS Brick Chapter of Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). She chose to donate to St. Jude's Hospital as a tribute to her childhood friend who died of cancer at the age of 8.

Kim will present her community service project at the FCCLA State Conference in March. Anyone interested in supporting this fundraising effort may contact Ms. Edwina Williams at the OCVTS Brick Center at ewilliams@mail.ocvts.org.

The FCCLA is a national career and technical student organization dedicated to making a difference by addressing current societal issues through family and consumer sciences education. Members are encouraged to develop leadership potential as well as life skills such as goal setting, problem solving and interpersonal communication.
