BRICK - Three students representing Drum Point Road School recently won the highest honors in the WordMasters Challenge, a national literacy competition entered by over 225,000 students annually.

Fourth graders Brian Oehme, Jaclyn Person and Cheer Tsang competed in the difficult Blue Division of the Challenge and earned perfect scores on this year's third meet, held in May. In the entire country, only 127 fourth graders earned perfect scores. These same three students earned the highest honors for year-long achievement as well. Brian, Jaclyn and Cheer were three of nine students in the country to earn perfect scores in all three of the year's meets.

Also the Drum Point Road Team placed sixth in the nation in the year end cumulative standings. In addition to the three students above, members of the team include: Madison Farley, Valerie Grimm, Eva Terembes, Kelly Szaniawski, Jade DeGrassie, Alexis Esposito, Carissa Worman and Nicole Cardinale.

The WordMasters Challenge is a contest of critical thinking, in which students learn a set of challenging words and then use these words to complete analogies expressing various types of relationships. Students boost vocabulary and analytical thinking skills.
