Garden Club Of Brick Announces Meeting
BRICK - The Garden Club of Brick will meet on May 12 at 7 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Center on Herbertsville Road. The Cultural Arts Center is approximately 1.5 miles west from the Route 70 and Herbertsville Road intersection. The public is invited to attend the meeting.
Vilma Oxenford, club president, will provide time for reports from the garden tour and tea committee telling of the progress for the July 8 tour of 10 gardens in Brick. Raffle tickets, plants and craft items will also be available during the tour and tea.
The planter pots committee will report about the 50 planter pots which will be planted by club members on May 15. The pots will then be distributed around Brick for all to enjoy. Garden club members will water and care for the plants throughout the summer and fall to "Make Brick Bloom."
The Route 70/Brick Boulevard Garden Spot committee will tell of the members who volunteered their time to weed and prepare the gardens there for spring and summer plantings. Club members will also care for this area during the summer and fall seasons.
Over 150 people are in the club and many of the members actively participate in activities to help beautify their town throughout the year. New members are always welcome to join in the fun and pride of the garden club.
Following the reports, Dorothy Laurence from the Master Gardener Program of Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Ocean County will give a slide presentation on Container Gardening. Plants will be suggested for container gardens, and proper care of container gardens will be discussed. A question and answer period will follow Ms. Laurence's program, and handouts will be available. Call 732-840-1850 for more information.
