First Tee Of Monmouth And Ocean Counties Announces Program
LAKEWOOD - A new youth development/ golf program is available in Ocean County. Life lessons for young people, along with golf instruction, will be available starting May 21 at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood.
The program is the initiative of a new chapter of The First Tee, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting character development in youth.
The eight-week session is open to youths ages 8 to 17 for a nominal fee. "Golf clubs are provided and scholarships are available," said Bob Hodnett, executive director of The First Tee of Monmouth and Ocean counties.
Instruction is provided by certified golf professionals who are assisted by volunteers trained by The First Tee.

The First Tee uses the game of golf to teach its nine core values, which are honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment.
The group's life skills curriculum engages participants in valuable life lessons in communications, self-management and goal-setting.
The Monmouth-Ocean chapter is constructing a learning center at Colonial Terrace Golf Course in Ocean Township on land provided by the township and also is offering a program at Suneagles Golf Course at Fort Monmouth.
